Here are pictures of KM Roofing Edinburgh rebuilding a collapsed chimney and gable end wall in Penicuik, Edinburgh. The chimney stack became unsafe in high winds placing pressure on the gable end wall and had to be demolished immediately by our roofers as it was extremely dangerous to the homeowners and general public and situated in a busy high street with thoroughfare below. The wall and stack were rebuilt in brick and the entire gable end was re- rendered. The chimney was finished with a granite chip dry dash and a granolithic coping stone cast in situ by our roofers, with the chimney pots re- bedded and flaunched. It was also decided to replace the cement skews with lead and zinc watergates as failing skews were a major contributing factor to historical persistent water ingress. Along with various other items of general maintenance including several slate repairs the clients are now able to redecorate inside the property and have peace of mind that the problem is now solved after many years of ongoing undetected water ingress.
